Domino Park (Brooklyn)

Domino Park showcases how industrial relics can be transformed into meaningful public landmarks. Developed on the site of the historic Domino Sugar Refinery, it merges history, play, and sustainability.

Site Description

The 5-acre park along the East River incorporates more than 30 preserved factory artifacts—tanks, cranes, and conveyors—into its design. Its features include a playground, volleyball courts, dog run, and raised promenade offering panoramic views.

Community Effect

Since opening in 2018, Domino Park has attracted millions of visitors and strengthened Williamsburg’s community identity. By hosting over 100 free cultural events annually, it fosters inclusion and shared local pride.

Elements of Rose Kennedy Greenway

Domino Park exemplifies how design can honor the past while shaping the future. Re:space translates that philosophy by preserving Jersey City’s historic stone embankment and transforming it into a living narrative of renewal and community connection.
